Inveni Capital invests in BioSilta
February 22nd, 2008, Helsinki, Finland and Munich, Germany. Inveni Capital announced today an investment in BioSilta Oy, an Oulu, Finland, -based start-up company. Inveni Capital was the sole investor in the financing round.
BioSilta is a spin out from the Bioprocess Engineering Laboratory of the University of Oulu, Finland and is based on inventions made in the group of Prof. Peter Neubauer. The company has developed a break-through growth-media technology for the production of biologics, enabling controlled growth and higher yields in production. The funds raised will be used to fund the product development and market launch of BioSilta’s first product line, expected in the second quarter of this year.
In connection with the investment, Mr. Russell Golson was recruited as CEO of BioSilta. Mr. Golson, a UK citizen, brings rich management experience in product development, customer service, sales and marketing, to BioSilta from the life science research and development market. Mr. Golson worked previously as head of the Genomic Technology business unit at MWG Biotech AG.
